A New Horizon

09/01/2022

I remarried in November of 2020, and I took a few months to move out of the house I was leasing at that time and into my husband’s home (and a storage facility). I feel like I have been in varying states of disarray since that time, and we have all been affected by it. Some days, it feels more overwhelming than others to me (and to him and my son). In June, we paid professional movers to pack up and move the remainder of my belongings from the storage facility into an extra “living room” in our home so that I could at least go through those boxes and such in the air conditioning (and we could reclaim the $175 a month we were wasting on that place. I had spine surgery that same month, and afterward, I had some very strict weight/lifting restrictions, and I was basically laid up for the next five weeks. I did go through some boxes, and I made a lot of “trash,” but the things seem to multiply every day that I walk by them. I feel so overwhelmed.

I did have a bit of an unsolicited epiphany back in the spring about why it seems to be taking me SO long to get settled, and it occurred to me that in all of my million moves over the course of my life, until this time, I had NEVER (never) moved into an occupied space. My husband has been fabulous about clearing space for me, my son and our stuff (my husband is not one to get terribly attached to items), but still, there has been this (real or imagined) obstacle for me.

I really have to figure out why it’s been so hard. I think it has something to do with infinity. Or finity. Not a word . . . I know. But it works for me right now, so I shall implement it.

About Me

I’m Christi, and I have been writing, well, since I learned to write as a little girl. I learned in my 40’s that writing saves lives and sanity, and that is exactly why I am still here.
